The properties of Uddeholm Skolvar are well suited for hot applications. In this application we made a test of a shearing knife cutting round bars in high temperature environment of ca 1000°C, where a property as heat checking is a limiting factor. We can confirm that the result of Uddeholm Skolvar test shows a 2x tool life extension compared to the reference material.
Our investigation of the heat impact to the material shows that the temper back resistance is a superior property of this steel grade and valuable assets to the final customer which appreciate a longer tool life, less maintenance and less down time.
