H13ESR is a chromium-molybdenum-vanadium-alloyed hot work steel that is Electro-Slag Remelted, providing improved isotropic properties compared to conventionally single melt grades. With these improvements, tools in highly stress die casting, forging, and extrusion have increased resistance to cracking and thermal fatigue. In addition, it has very good polishability and can be used in plastic molding application where high toughness is needed.
